Important information regarding investment scams and cold calls

We have been notified that some members of the public have recently been receiving calls from scammers purporting to work for Invesco. Victims of these scams have reported visiting product comparison websites and subsequently being contacted by the scammers, who have provided convincing literature relating to investment bonds.

Our staff will not make cold calls or contact you by telephone or email to make investment recommendations. This a sophisticated attempt at fraudulently acquiring money and information through a ‘clone firm’ scam. After paying money to invest into these fictitious products, victims of such scams typically never hear anything again.

If you have been contacted

If you have been contacted in this manner we would urge you to exercise extreme caution and not to respond to the callers in any way. We recommend you report the approach to the Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) Consumer Helpline on 0800 111 6768 or email consumer.queries@fca.org.uk

If you think you may have made a payment as a result of a scam, please contact your bank immediately. We also recommend that you report the scam to Action Fraud (the national fraud and cybercrime reporting centre) on 0300 123 2040.

If you are ever unsure about the credentials of anyone who tells you they are calling from Invesco, please call us on 0800 085 8677. Please note telephone calls may be recorded.

Other scams

Sadly, scams of this nature are not uncommon. We have also issued warnings about four previous scams which may still be in circulation:

1) Cold calls to Invesco and Invesco investment trust shareholders

Current and former direct shareholders of Invesco Ltd and Invesco-managed investment trusts have received calls from people who say they're calling from Invesco or from a range of different companies (usually from abroad). These callers try to persuade individuals to "sell" their shares under the guise of an alleged hostile takeover bid of Invesco or Invesco investment trusts. Such scams typically involve the fraudsters later requesting an upfront payment to facilitate the bogus share sale.

2) An investment scam using the name “Invesco Keystone Investment Trust”

Members of the public have received calls from persons purporting to be working for “Invesco Keystone Investment Trust”. The callers ask members of the public to pay a fee to facilitate the sale of investments bought previously –typically carbon credits, precious metals and land. It is thought that the members of the public being targeted are previous victims of an investment type scam.

Please be aware that these callers are not connected to Keystone Investment Trust plc, Invesco or any of its subsidiaries.

3) An investment scam using the name “Global Invesco” or “Nordic Market Services Ltd”

Members of the public have previously made us aware of approaches by a company identifying itself as “Global Invesco”, which is allegedly owned by a company called “Nordic Market Services Ltd”. This company is claiming to be linked to Invesco Global Investment Series. Please note that this firm is not connected to Invesco or any of its subsidiaries.

4) An investment scam (carbon credit/commodity investment) using the company name "Invesco Capital Ltd".

Certain members of the public have received cold calls by persons purporting to work for a fictitious company called "Invesco Capital Ltd". These callers are offering services in arranging or recovering commodity investments or carbon credits. They have also previously set up a website in the name of Invescocapital.com. This scam is using the Invesco brand to give it credibility.
